How to Put a Shopify Product on Draft or Delete It
If you need to temporarily hide a product or permanently remove it from your Shopify store, follow the steps below:
1. Putting a Product on Draft
If you want to remove a product from your online store without permanently deleting it, you can change its status to “Draft.” This keeps the product in your inventory but hides it from your customers.
Steps:
Log in to your Shopify admin.
Click on Products in the left-hand menu.
Find the product you want to set as a draft and click on its name.
On the product details page, locate the Product status section at the top.
Change the status from Active to Draft.
Click Save at the top to apply the change.
Your product will now be hidden from your store but still accessible in your admin for future updates.
2. Deleting a Product
If you no longer plan to sell a product and want to remove it entirely from your Shopify store, you can delete it.
Steps:
Log in to your Shopify admin.
Click on Products from the left-hand menu.
Find the product you want to delete and click on its name.
Scroll to the bottom of the product page and click Delete product.
A confirmation prompt will appear. Click Delete to confirm.
Once deleted, the product will be permanently removed from your store and cannot be restored.
Important Notes:
Putting a product on Draft is reversible, while deleting a product is permanent.
Products on draft will not appear in any sales channels until reactivated.
