There are some niches that we advice either not selling, or being sure you have a trustworthy, US based supplier, check it out below!

Drugs & Drug Paraphernalia

This might sounds like an obvious one but what you might not know is CBD is included in this bucket as well.

Shopify does not allow the sale of CBD products and Facebook does not allow the advertisements of drug (and CBD) related products.

Keep this in mind when picking your domain name as well, you can get restricted from advertising if there are references of drugs in your domain. Click here for more info.

Weapons & Personal Defense Products

Although weapons are allowed to be sold on Shopify, their payment processing software does not allow for this, so you will need to find your own payment processing system.

Facebook does not allow for the advertisement of any weapons or personal defense products.

Adult Products & Lingerie

These are both great niches however keep in mind you will not be able to run Facebook ads so you will need to think outside the box and focus on the Connective eCommerce and organic growth methods to get traffic and sales!

Food, Cosmetics & Skincare

If you plan to sell anything that is consumable, or goes on the skin, we highly recommend finding a US based supplier.

Suppliers located in China don't always have the same requirements as the US, so to protect both your customers and yourself, its always best to pick a US based supplier.

Trademark & Copyright Products

It's important to remember trademark and copyright laws. It's always best to stay away from products, characters, and brands that are trademarked for example, Disney, Harry Potter, Marvel, Apple etc etc.

These are the obvious ones, but some things are less obvious. If you plan on making a POD (print on demand) store, remember that sayings and phrases can also be trademarked. It's always a good idea to head to the trademark database and search your phrase before adding it to a product - more things are trademarked than you think!

Keep in mind that Etsy isn't always the best place to get inspo as many products sold on Etsy do infringe on trademark laws.

โ€‹Death
โ€‹
Death related products are simply difficult to sell using the methods that we are using in EB. We recommend not selling products in the death niche.
