If your screen looks a bit different from what you expected—don’t worry! We have an update. Everything is functioning exactly as it should.
Be sure to toggled off a setting called PayPal Wallet in your payments configuration. After confirming with Shopify Help Desk, we can assure you that this was not only the right move, but the necessary one.
Here’s why:
1. PayPal Is Already Built Into Shopify Payments
The ability to accept PayPal payments is included by default when you use Shopify Payments. This means your store is already fully set up to accept PayPal—no extra configuration required.
2. The PayPal Wallet Toggle Was Redundant
The separate PayPal Wallet option we turned off was simply a duplicate of what Shopify Payments already provides. Leaving it on isn’t harmful, but it's unnecessary and can cause confusion because it appears to be an additional setup step when it isn’t.
3. Why You Won’t See PayPal Under “Additional Payment Methods”
Because PayPal is integrated directly into Shopify Payments, it doesn’t appear as a standalone item in the “Additional payment methods” section. That section is only used when PayPal needs to be enabled as a separate gateway—such as in countries where Shopify Payments isn’t available.
4. Your Store Is Set Up Correctly
Since your store can use Shopify Payments, you don’t need a secondary PayPal setup. Everything flows through the main integration automatically.
Bottom Line
As long as Shopify Payments is active on your store, you are fully enabled to accept PayPal payments. No extra toggles, no additional PayPal tab—just seamless functionality built right in.
