I know that when you are starting your first business, you want everything to be perfect.

You want to have the most amazing, flashy, boast worthy products that you can show off to your friends and family - they’ll be like wow your store is so beautiful etc etc etc.

And this is where you have to make a choice:

Do you want to make money selling whatever is trending?

Or do you want a glamorous beautiful store that may or may not make money?

I know when I first started I had my heart set on a fashion boutique, something that was just so feminine and beautiful - I launched it and blah… nothing happened.

The next store I tried was a baby boutique… it was so cute and all organic and the colors were super aesthetic and pleasing - I launched it and blah… nothing happened again.

That’s when I went back to the drawing board - I actually looked at what the product research was telling me…

I started researching my audience, I started to see what they wanted, what was missing in the market.

I launched a new, beautiful store and boom - sales started flowing in.

It didnt have to do with the beautiful store - it had to do with the products.

I had to change my frame of mind - I reality didnt care what I was selling - as long as I was successful.

Because you know what’s more validating than showing a friend a pretty website?

Telling them you are making $20k a month in sales

😉

So if you are caught in the loop of wanting to create a store around something that

  1. Isn't unique

  2. Doesn't stand out

  3. Customers can buy everywhere

Stop and ask yourself - is this the right track?

Is a fashion brand with no specific edge or angle going to stand out?

Is a leggings brand with no unique functions going to put me ahead?

Should I consider a product that is already trending and people are already talking about? (HINT: YES)

Remember - this is your first store.

Your goal shouldn’t be to make this perfect dream boutique - your goal should be to learn the skills and make money - and it honestly doesn’t matter what you sell to do this!

So stop overthinking - stop procrastinating..

Hop on TikTok for 5 minutes and see what you find, take those products and choose the one that people are most talking about, has the most sales on ali, or just peaks your interest and START.

I spent about 5mins on TikTok this morning and these are what I found - what can you find?

Did this answer your question?
